About Me

I am a Nigerian politician, economist, and community development advocate emerging as a notable contender in the Ogun West Senatorial race for 2027. My candidacy reflects a broader shift in Nigerian politics toward younger, reform-oriented leaders who prioritize grassroots engagement, policy-driven governance, and inclusive representation. With growing recognition across Ogun West, particularly within the Yewa axis, he is positioning himself as a credible alternative in a district historically shaped by entrenched political structures.

Mybackground is closely tied to the socio-economic realities of the region. Growing up in an area affected by infrastructural deficits, youth unemployment, and limited access to quality healthcare, he developed an early awareness of systemic challenges facing local communities. These formative experiences have significantly influenced his political philosophy, which emphasizes equitable development, community participation, and responsive governance.

Academically, Mustapha Ishola has built a multidisciplinary foundation that blends economics, business, and public health. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the American University of Nigeria in 2009, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the People in 2024. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Community Health Administration from Keck Graduate Institute. His academic journey is complemented by certifications in finance, strategy, marketing, and entrepreneurship. He has also contributed to academic discourse through research on financial innovation and payment systems, demonstrating an interest in how technology and policy intersect to drive economic development.

Mustapha Ishola’s early engagement in leadership began during his university years, where he participated actively in student governance and advocacy initiatives. This exposure laid the groundwork for his transition into formal politics. In 2024, he contested for the chairmanship position in Yewa South Local Government under the Labour Party, running on a platform that emphasized transparency, local economic revitalization, and participatory governance. Although the election cycle was disrupted by internal party challenges and compliance issues, the experience marked a significant step in his political trajectory and expanded his visibility within Ogun State.

Over time, my political journey has involved strategic realignments across different platforms, reflecting both the fluid nature of Nigerian party politics and my search for a viable platform aligned with my reform agenda. I have been associated with parties such as the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress before aligning with the National Rescue Movement and now BOOT (Because Of Our Tomorrow) Party, under which I have declared my intention to run for the Ogun West Senatorial seat in 2027.

My senatorial ambition is anchored on a set of policy priorities that resonate strongly with the needs of Ogun West constituents. These include economic empowerment through job creation and support for small and medium enterprises, healthcare reform with a focus on accessibility and community-based systems, agricultural modernization to unlock rural productivity, infrastructure development, and the inclusion of young people in governance. These themes align with broader national conversations on development while maintaining a localized focus on the unique challenges of the Ogun West district.

A defining feature of my political approach is my emphasis on grassroots mobilization. I have actively engaged with market women, artisans, youth organizations, and community leaders across the district, building a network of support that cuts across ethnic and social lines. My outreach extends to key economic hubs such as Ota, Idiroko, and Owode, areas that are critical to trade and cross-border commerce. This bottom-up engagement strategy has contributed to my growing appeal as a candidate who is accessible, relatable, and attentive to the everyday concerns of constituents.

In terms of public perception, I am increasingly seen as a youthful reformer capable of bridging the gap between policy and people. My candidacy appeals to voters seeking alternatives to traditional political elites, particularly among younger demographics and first-time voters. My messaging consistently emphasizes themes such as inclusive leadership, grassroots-first governance, and the transformation of Ogun West from potential to performance.

My profile also benefits from recognition in academic and extracurricular spaces, including distinctions earned during studies in economics and contributions to research in finance and payments. Additionally, my involvement in youth-oriented initiatives, including sports and community engagement programs, reflects a broader commitment to social development beyond formal politics.

As the 2027 elections approach, my presence in the Ogun West senatorial race underscores the evolving dynamics of Nigerian politics. My combination of academic grounding, grassroots engagement, and reform-driven messaging positions me as a candidate to watch. More importantly, my candidacy represents a growing demand for leadership that is not only politically strategic but also socially responsive and development-focused.
