I am a Nigerian politician, economist, and community development advocate who has emerged as a contender in the Ogun West Senatorial race for 2027. My candidacy reflects a growing demand for younger, reform-oriented leaders who prioritize grassroots engagement, policy-driven governance, and inclusive representation. With increasing recognition across Ogun West, particularly within the Yewa axis, I am positioning myself as a credible alternative in a district long influenced by established political structures.
My background is closely connected to the socio-economic realities of the region. Growing up in a community affected by infrastructural deficits, youth unemployment, and limited healthcare access, I developed an early understanding of the challenges facing ordinary citizens. These experiences shaped my commitment to equitable development, community participation, and responsive governance.
Academically, I have built a foundation spanning economics, business, and public health. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the American University of Nigeria, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the People, and a Master’s degree in Community Health Administration from Keck Graduate Institute. My education is complemented by certifications in finance, strategy, marketing, and entrepreneurship, as well as research interests in financial innovation and payment systems.
My leadership journey began during my university years through active participation in student governance and advocacy initiatives. In 2024, I contested for the chairmanship of Yewa South Local Government under the Labour Party on a platform of transparency, economic revitalization, and participatory governance. Although the electoral process faced challenges, the experience broadened my political exposure and strengthened my commitment to public service.
My political journey has included engagements with the Labour Party, African Democratic Congress, National Rescue Movement, and now the BOOT (Because Of Our Tomorrow) Party, under which I have declared my intention to contest the Ogun West Senatorial seat in 2027. These transitions reflect my determination to find a platform that aligns with my vision for meaningful reform and effective representation.
My senatorial agenda focuses on economic empowerment through job creation and support for small businesses, healthcare accessibility, agricultural modernization, infrastructure development, and youth inclusion in governance. These priorities are designed to address both the immediate and long-term needs of Ogun West communities.
A defining feature of my political approach is grassroots engagement. I have worked closely with market women, artisans, youth groups, and community leaders across the district, including key economic centers such as Ota, Idiroko, and Owode. This direct engagement has helped me build relationships across diverse communities and strengthened my reputation as an accessible and responsive leader.
As the 2027 elections approach, my candidacy represents the growing call for leadership that is accountable, development-focused, and people-centered. Through a combination of academic preparation, community engagement, and reform-driven ideas, I remain committed to advancing a vision of progress, opportunity, and inclusive development for the people of Ogun West.
Vote Mustapha Ayoola Ishola for Senate for a brighter future in Ogun West!
